after he spent
11 days with us,
we decided
that we like him,
just a little.

this swing set
has lasted about
thirty years.
through a kid
catching his leg on the o-rings
(and having to have that removed
at the hospital)
to these children,
the second generation
to swing to their
hearts content.
Its amazing
that it’s held up
so well.

My favorite pizza topping
First you fire-roast the poblano,
then let it “rest” in a paper bag.
When it has cooled,
peel the skin off,
it should come off easily.
Then slice up and place on
your unbaked plain cheese pizza.
You will not regret it,
although they can be a little spicy.
The flavor of these guys is
perfection.

In Honor of Earth Day.

every little bit helps
so we we started composting.
this is our indoor bin.
we dump it every night
into one of two large
garbage bins with holes.
i thought it would stink,
but every time i empty
the bin
i am struck by the
earthy aroma
that wafts out
it smells like dirt
like forest
like green.
