there are days
when you just want
to lay
in the grass
and stare up
and the blue blue sky.
days when you could
be happy
by simply being.
this was one of
those days.

my favorite flower
is the California poppy.
once a year and for a very
short time, it blooms,
blanketing the desert
and freeway
in bright oranges
and yellows,
and whites.
