Day 280

The fireworks must have
frightened her,
because she ran away
on the 4th of July.
The stress and sadness
of possibly never
seeing her freckly face
again,
caused much distress
in our home.
When someone
brought her home,
we really did
cover her in kisses
and hugs,
and didn’t stop
touching her for
hours.
Even now,
3 days later,
when I look at her,
I feel relief,
and love,
and an overwhelming sense
of paranoia.
