we were given
free tickets
to the auto show
for thanksgiving day.
she climbed in all the cars
and made sure they
were comfortable.

Computer issues mean halloween pictures are lost, hopefully to be found later.

The fireworks must have
frightened her,
because she ran away
on the 4th of July.
The stress and sadness
of possibly never
seeing her freckly face
again,
caused much distress
in our home.
When someone
brought her home,
we really did
cover her in kisses
and hugs,
and didn’t stop
touching her for
hours.
Even now,
3 days later,
when I look at her,
I feel relief,
and love,
and an overwhelming sense
of paranoia.

such a simple thing
can bring such pleasure.
four holes drilled
in a piece of scrap wood,
two lengths of rope
salvaged from the truck,
and one fairly sturdy branch
was all it took
to bring this smile
to her face.

My eldest child once
told me that these
are the ghosts of
dinosaurs
running wild and free
across the desert.

Thanksgiving is a time to be with family,
and even when the day is celebrated late
we enjoy good food together,
followed by games,
including- Tailgate Toss
and Hillbilly Golf.
